For the technologies developed at the Center for Solar Energy to command market share and truly be disruptive, they must be cost effectively replicable on a large scale. Manufacturing is therefore a key component of our program.

CSE will provide a limited manufacturing prototyping facility for program award recipients and other CSE program participants. This facility will ensure that innovators have the access they need to low-cost, short-term, small-scale manufacturing, until they are ready for their own facilities.

The facility will be equipped for production levels ranging from several panels to several hundred kW’s of each technology. It will also remain responsive to the rapidly evolving field of renewable energy, employing machines that can perform multiple processes.

CSE will provide support throughout the entire manufacturing process, from prototyping to developing full-scale lines. This range will allow technologies to penetrate the market in a fraction of the time it would take other technologies.

Establishing a manufacturing hub in Central Texas will also attract manufacturing partners to the area. Benefits include high-end manufacturing and technician training, technology manufacturing assignment, venture development and manufacturing support.
